Honda Jazz in INDIA, Honda Seil Cars India (HSCI)
New Delhi: Honda’s Jazz compact is all set to hit Indian roads on June 10 but the car is likely to cost close to Rs 7 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), making it the most-expensive hatchback manufactured in India, costlier than others like Hyundai i20 and Skoda Fabia. At this price point, Jazz will also face competition from many sedan models.
Sources said Jazz will sport a specially-tailored 1200cc VTEC petrol engine. With a premium tag, it promises to create a new segment by offering riding comfort and safety features like sedans, apart from fuel-efficiency.
The Jazz will be Honda’s first product in the big-volume compact car segment, and is expected to witness modest sales, considering the price-sensitive nature of Indian market. Honda, however, seems to have factored this in, considering the statement of its president Masahiro Takedagawa, who said earlier, “Jazz will trail the City sedan in sales volumes.”
