Indian Advocate Anjali Waghmare To Defend Terrorist Kasab

An Indian court appointed Anjali Waghmare a lawyer Monday for the only gunman charged in last year’s terror attacks in Mumbai and said trial proceedings will start in a special court on April 6.

The special court on Monday appointed Anjali Waghmare (40), a lawyer with the Maharashtra Service Legal Authority, to defend Kasab in the November 26 terror strike, which is likely to begin on April 6 in the high security Arthur Road jail here. the court prepared a panel of 17 lawyers. Of the 17 advocates, Anjali Waghmare’s name was approved by the judge to appear for Kasab, a resident of Faridkot in Pakistan.

Tahiliyani informed Kasab that advocate Anjali Waghmare from the state legal aid would represent him and another lawyer would be appointed to assist her.

Anjali Waghmare was also present during the video conferencing and was introduced to Kasab, who said he had no objection to her appointment as his lawyer.
