HYDERABAD: What shape the first GHMC council will take will be known after the results to the civic body elections are declared by Thursday afternoon.

Counting of the results will be taken up in 24 centres at 8 am. About 42.9 per cent of the 57 lakh voters cast their votes in the elections held on Monday.

At stake are 150 municipal wards. The MIM is pinning its hopes on becoming the single largest party while the ruling Congress is confident of bagging about 50 wards. The TDP, BJP and PRP are the other major parties in the fray.

The 150 elected corporators will choose the mayor and deputy mayor for which a contest is likely to be held between allies Congress and MIM.
